CREATING A
BUTTERFLY GARDEN

Several of the young people and teachers from Knightsridge Sunday School embarked on an environmental project over the school summer holidays in 2005. They turned an ugly, litter-filled area into a life-giving space.

Kind sponsorship from the Central Scotland Forest Trust and a few donations of materials provided what was needed to get started. Transforming old tyres into flower pots with a splash of paint the young people planted several plants that would attract butterflies. Cooldrink bottles were also recycled and turned into brightly coloured bird-feeders. Wooden trellis was attached to the bare walls and was then covered with attractive butterflies. Windows, once covered with graffiti are now bright and welcoming!

Many people walk past this once unused space and they can't help feeling a little more cheerful when they look at the new Butterfly Garden. It brings a smile of appreciation to many faces!

BLESSING

And now may the courage of the early morning's dawning,
And the strength of the eternal hills at noontime,
And the peace of the open spaces at evening's ending,
And the love of God, Live in our hearts now and forever, Amen

CLEANING UP
Before the garden could be created, lots of litter and mess had to be cleared away...
