THE VISION UNFOLDS - 2006
Grants and Donations
After obtaining the agreement of Mosswood Community Centre many requests were made to various people and organisations to assist with the development of the three gardens. The support has been outstanding!
Marlyn Young (Manager of the Ability Centre), Mark Drysdale (Community Learning and Development Officer at Mosswood) and Tina Hutton (Knightsridge Neighbourhood Network) offered their support to the project. During August and September 2006 the first funding of £400 was granted through Councillor Ferrie's Disbursement Fund and various community event days, Preparing the Ground, Painting Walls & Fences and Paving the Way,) were held to begin the work.
A meeting was held with Daniel McComisky (West Lothian's NET's and Land Services) to discuss building of raised flower beds, seating areas and ground cover with a proposed start date of mid October.
Other funding was granted over the next few months: £2,000 from Ann Gee of West Lothian's Housing & Building Services; £1,000 from Susan Thores, Principal Arts Officer; £562 from West Lothian's Social Policy Communities Team; £150 for woodland plants from The Central Scotland Forest Trust along with a wonderful donation of two large wooden window boxes from the carpenter's workshop at Carmondean's Ability Centre in Livingston.
